Dan, thanks for sending this. It got me away from other things I had been working on and actually gave me the chance to do some more animating! Which is always a good thing because then when I return to those other tasks...it will exciting again.

So here's the quick 'n dirty animation I made for the arrival. Little to no editing yet. I thought about adding lots of stuff --- but got tired:

(^ long long ago, i had this odd conversation on the coming of a new era.
(^ meanwhile, the way things were was frustratingly implausible
(^ to get past testing beta blockers and then I realized why:

(^ folk were trying to make a living.
(^ and that sometimes meant making sure others
(^ couldn't undercut their bids.

(^ it upset me to no end to know that
(^ the main reason things were done the way they were was because
(^ the older "masters" had clunky old outmoded
(^ (and overpriced)equipment and storage /studio rental costs
(^ that made letting go of it as a biz loss and starting fresh
(^ with a cheaper faster BETTER biz models was unlikely from the outside.
(^ anyone offering it would be hushed over with the "2 out of 3 ain't bad" line.

(^ .. so I started ranting at insiders.
(^ just because i cared.

Making of Dan MadMetalCat's Art Journal

Dan asked if I could make his art journal for him, so I said sure. Here's how I did it.

Supplies: (1) Composition Book, (20) Manilla Office Folders, Wax Linen Thread, Needle, Exacto Knife, Scissors, Ruler, Sheet of copy paper, and a pen or pencil.

I started by removing all the lined pages from the composition book. To do this, all I did was carefully cut the binding thread and the paper pulled right out all at once.

Then I drew lines down the spine separating it into four sections. After that, I made 6 lines (EVENLY SPACED) horizontally down the spine. Once that was done, I poked holes wherever the two lines met - as you can see in the picture below:



Next, I took my manilla folders and separated them into four signatures with five folders inside each other in all four signatures. Check it out, man:



Now I took a sheet of copy paper and paper clipped it inside my composition book and poked a line of holes down the center to match with the binding. Then I took that sheet of paper with the holes down the center and clipped it into one of my signatures (check out my fancy clips below:



Now it's time to poke more holes. This time just one line down the center (poking through all five folders at once.) Repeat this step for all four signatures. Here's me doing one:



The next steps are a little complicated to do and take pictures of at the same time. What I had to do next was thread the wax lined thread in and out of both the binding and each signature separately. Then when all four signatures were tightly threaded to the binding, I tied a knot on either end.

And that's it! It turned out pretty nice! The coolest thing about this journal is that it's sturdy and easy to make. The pages are those manila folders so they're thick like card stock (will be able to withstand ANY art media you can imagine and take lots of abuse for those rough, emotional, art journal entries. Anyway, hope you like it Dan. I'll start drawing a few pictures of my own in it tonight.

Arrival of Prosser's Package to LeTendre

Brian Prosser's package arrived at my doorstep on a day like any other. The only odd thing about the arrival was that there was no FEDEX truck. Nope. Not even a friggin' UPS truck!!

I just thought for new viewers to this site, this new quick raw footage video I made might help describe myself a little:



I am an artist. So I spend a lot of my life is in my room creating thingzZZz.

The video's pretty fast because I didn't want to bore you all with slow camera moves and zooms of EVERY LITTLE THING. So I compromised a little.

first updates on blog:

I changed the background color from white to black. I understand white is probably easier to read for most (but not me.)

I also changed the text colors because I had to choose something other than black. I think the rust and burgundy work nicely together. Feel free to change at any time.

LasT but not lease, I handmade the blog banner with cut-up pieces of vintage newspapers and other junk i've found.
